Training

TRAINING TIMES:

Tuesdays: 5:45pm-7:15pm

Thursdays: 5:45pm-7:15pm

Sundays: 9:15am-10:45am

Training includes a 15 minute warm up and 15 minute cool down. This is an essential component of training to guard against injury.

Members are strongly encouraged to commit to at least 2 out of 3 sessions each week; however, we understand that work, family and life gets in the way sometimes.

Whilst you sit in pairs and paddle on one side, you will swap sides with your partner halfway through training so that you work for 30 minutes on each side of the body.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Comfortable exercise gear
  • Enclosed shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (boat shoes, crocs or old joggers)
  • Hat, sunscreen
  • Cheap sunglasses and/or an old pair of prescription glasses
  • Bottle of water
  • Towel

You will need to wear a PFD/life vest if you are not a confident swimmer (and at certain times of the year ALL paddlers are required to wear them).

Paddles and PFDs are provided, along with a locker to store your keys/phone.

While we rarely capsize, it is a possibility and we always prepare to get wet, so no valuables on the boat.

Members sign up to a Teamstuff App which is used to send out messages in case of cancellation. We only cancel training in heavy rain and lightning, or extremely windy conditions (we love a little turbulence, and light rain makes for a pleasant paddle!).
